Why Fusion 360

What it means by Modelling for 3D prints

Learn Fusion 360, for 3D Printing!

There are many courses out there that teach you how to make 3D models, some of them even teach you how to use Fusion 360. So what makes ours so special?

Modelling for 3D prints

Modeling for 3D printing has its unique considerations compared to modeling for other purposes, such as animation or graphic design. Our course zeroes in on these distinctions, emphasizing the creation of models that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also 3D printable. This involves understanding the constraints of physical materials, the limitations of 3D printers, and the requirements for structural integrity.

Minimize Printing Errors

We focus on designing models with solid, manifold geometries, ensuring that every edge meets another edge to avoid printing errors. Attention is paid to wall thickness, overhangs, support structures, and print orientation to ensure the model is structurally sound and requires minimal post-processing.

Ready for Real-World Use

By mastering these specific aspects through our course, you'll be equipped to design models that transition smoothly from the digital screen to physical reality in the form of a 3D print, ready for real-world use.

Basic 3D Printing Skills Required

This course is tailored to focus on designing 3D models for 3D printing, and some 3D printing will be performed during the course. Due to the time constraint, we will require students to already know how to 3D print (with their equipment at home), or have already attended "A Taste of 3D Printing" with us.

Only 3 Hours!

This 3-hour course is intentionally brief to fit seamlessly into daily life without monopolizing it, while still offering ample opportunity to absorb key concepts. It's the sweet spot for busy individuals who want to learn effectively without sacrificing a whole day—long enough to cover the essentials, yet short enough to keep your day productive.

Minimum age of 13

This course is designed for students aged 13+, as they're usually ready to comprehend the concepts and use the equipment responsibly. We recognize there may be younger enthusiasts with the capability to participate, so if your child is under 13 and you believe they are an exception, please contact us to discuss their enrollment.

Syllabus

Topics are subject to slight changes from time to time, but generally these are the topics we'll cover for this course! 1. Quick refresher on how to operate our Prusa 3D Printer 2. Basics of Fusion 360 3. Designing and modelling your model 4. Spot issues and correct before printing (our secret sauce!) 4. Printing your model

Additional Notes

f the attendee is a Student below 13, an Adult must accompany the student at no additional cost. (Student + Adult will both share the same equipment) One accompanying adult is all that is required for one or more Students under 13.
